Marmara Group Foundation was at the 5th Global Baku Forum

Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation and Mr. Şamil Ayrım, Vice President of the Marmara Group Foundation participated in the 5th Global Baku Forum, which was held on March 16-17, 2017 in Baku, Azerbaijan. İlham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan opened the 5th Global Baku Forum, in which actual and former presidents were present. Dr. Akkan Suver and Mr. Şamil Ayrım were invited to the various TV channels during and after the Forum and gave their remarks on the 5th Global Baku Forum, which was completed successfully.

International Women’s Day, March 8

As you know, International Women’s Day, 8th of March is a universal day that is defined by the United Nations. Based on the human rights, this day is spared for the improvement of the political and social awareness, celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of the women. International Women’s Day, 8th of March first started to be celebrated in Turkey as “Working Women’s Day” in 1921. In 1975, “Turkey 1975, the Year of Women” congress was held as Turkey was also influenced by the “United Nations Decade for Women” program. After the military coup of September 12, 1980, no celebration was made for four years. Since 1984, every year “International Women’s Day” continued to be celebrated by various women’s organizations. H.E. Rustam Azimov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Met With Dr. Suver

H.E. Rustam Azimov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, who came to Turkey as a formal guest of H.E. Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Economy of Turkey, received Dr. Akkan Suver along with Elyor Ganiyev, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan and Anvar Sharapov, Minister of Tourism of Uzbekistan. At the meeting, Rustam Azimov expressed his remarks on Turk-Uzbek relationship. Dr. Akkan Suver gave a brief review emphasizing the value of Turk-Uzbek relationship for us as the Marmara Group Foundation with our civil society identity. At the meeting of Turkey-Uzbekistan Business Forum which Dr. Akkan Suver participated in, Turkish Businessman Ali Rıza Arslan signed an investment Project in the field of tourism with the Minister of Tourism Anvar Sharapov.

Checks and Balances Network Gathered in Antalya

The representatives of the Coordination Group, Communication Group and Internal Audit Group have gathered in Antalya for three-days meeting marathon on the dates of February 26-27, 2017 in order to form the new structure of the Checks and Balances Network and determine the intergroup duties and responsibilities. Müjgan Suver, who is in the Checks and Balances Network on behalf of the Marmara Group Foundation, was elected in the Coordination Group as a representative of the Judicial Reform Group. The Marmara Group Foundation gave a dinner in honor of H.E. Sharapov Anvar, The Minister of Tourism of Uzbekistan. During the dinner in which the relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey for tourism became the main topic of conversation; H.E. Sharapov Anvar, the Minister of Tourism of Uzbekistan, who stated that not only the commercial and economic relations, but cultural relations have improved on a vast scale as well, emphasized that it is attached importance to development of touristic and bilateral relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan. Dr. Akkan Suver indicated to Minister H.E. Sharapov Anvar, who stated that in spite of the possible hardships due to the distance between two countries, the touristic regions and holiday destinations attract the citizens of Uzbekistan's attention, the potential touristic attractions thanks to history of Uzbekistan, rich culture and religious inheritance attract the Turkish citizens attention as well.

Müjgan Suver, The President of The Marmara Group Foundation EU and Human Rights Platform, made a speech during the panel having been held within the framework of the “7th Olive Fest" which was organized on February 11, 2017 by the Municipality of Küçükkuyu. The Fest activities, in which a lot of guests participated, began with the folk dances. After the exhibition of “There Are Kids On The Journey to Hope " , the panel having the theme of " Immigration and Millenarian Olive Trees crying For The Refugees Dying In Aegean Sea " was held. In the panel which was moderated by Bülent Tanık, the former Major of Çankaya, the subject of “Immigration and Millenarian Olive Trees crying For The Refugees Dying In Eagan Sea” was handled with the participations of Pınar Türenç, The President of Press Council, Dr. Hande Arpart, Central Council Member of TMA and Müjgan Suver, The President of The Marmara Group Foundation EU and Human Rights Platform. During the panel, Müjgan Suver brought up the social part of the current immigration problem in Aegean.
