Heydar Aliyev was commemorated

A memorial ceremony was held in the 16th year of passing away to eternity of late Heydar Aliyev in front of the Heydar Aliyev Monument in the Heydar Aliyev Park in Istanbul's Kirecburnu by the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, Mesim Haciyev. During the ceremony where the Mayor of Sarıyer Şükrü Genç and the Azerbaijanis in Istanbul attended, the Marmara Group Foundation was present with Dr. Akkan Suver and M. Gökhan Havuzlu. On 12 December 2019, Dr. Akkan Suver wrote an article on late Heydar Aliyev's passing away to eternity.

Women's Participation in Democratic Processes Seminar

Seminars continue under the Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy Project. The opening speeches were given by the Chairwoman of the EU and Human Rights Platform Müjgan Suver and Assoc. Dr. Armağan Gözkaman at the Taksim Campus of Beykent University. During the seminar on Women's Participation in Democratic Processes, Atty. Elif Görgülü gave information about women's participation in political processes. She emphasized that women's participation in decision-making bodies throughout history has been an indispensable part of democracy. The participation and interest of Beykent University students were great in the seminar, moderated by Dr. Ezgi Cankurt.

Consulate General of the United States visited Marmara Group Foundation

In the light of the discussions on the 23rd Eurasian Economic Summit, Robert Kris, Consul of the Department of Politics and Economics of the Consulate General of the United States of America and Tyler Rube, Political Affairs Officer, paid a study visit to the Marmara Group Foundation. Kirs and Rube met with Dr. Akkan Suver, Ali Rıza Arslan and Cafer Okray and stated that they will work for the participation of the United States at the 23rd Eurasian Economic Summit.

Belarusian Park opened in Bakırköy

In cooperation with the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul together with Dr. Bülent Kerimoğlu, Mayor of Bakırköy, Belarusian Friendship Park was opened in Bakırköy. During the opening ceremony which is attended by Andrey Buravov, Consul General of the Russian Federation, Oleksandr Gaman, Consul General of Ukraine, Aleksei Shved, Consul General of Belarus and Mayor of Sovietsky, Dr. Bülent Kerimoğlu, Mayor of Bakırköy, emphasized that they are brotherly cities together with Belarus's Sovietsky. Dr. Akkan Suver, President of Marmara Group Foundation and Ali Rıza Arslan, Vice President of Marmara Group Foundation attended the opening ceremony on behalf of Marmara Group Foundation.

ICC New Year Champagne Night

A New Year celebration was held at the French Palace of the French Consulate General by President of the Consulate Association of Istanbul, Consul General of Croatia Ivana Zerec in honor of international organizations with career diplomats and honorary consulates in Istanbul. Dr. Akkan Suver and Müjgan Suver also participated to the night which started with the speeches of the Consul General of Croatia Ivana Zerec, Doyenne Consul General Adriana Ciamba, Host, Consul General of France Bertrand Buchwalter on behalf of the Consular Association. Ambassador Murat Tamer, the Istanbul Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was present with his wife.

Visit to the Berlin State Parliament

Within the scope of the Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy Project we are implementing, a team of ten representatives from the project partner institutions paid a visit to Berlin. During the visit, a meeting was held with Dr. Turgut Altuğ, the Member of Parliament of the Berlin State Parliament. Within the scope of the meeting, important information was given about the participation of citizens of Turkish origin in democratic processes. Dr. Altuğ, starting from his biography, emphasized the importance of women's participation in politics and their personal biographies contributed to the development of society in Berlin. He drew attention to the number of female / male deputies in the Parliament. After the meeting, a trip was held in the historic parliament building. Participation Guide Workshop for Women and Young People

Within the scope of the Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy project that we are implementing, a team of ten people consisting of project representatives organized a workshop in Berlin. The workshop was moderated by Assoc. Dr. Mesut Eren and representatives of non-governmental organizations working on democracy, youth and women in Berlin participated in the workshop. In the workshop, the mechanisms of participation of young people and women in democratic decision-making processes were evaluated and information was transferred to increase participation. The content of the policy guideline was discussed and information was provided on the theoretical / practical models of democratic participation. Project partner, Turkish Women's Union representatives Yasemin Kültür, Ayşen Karakulak and Zeynep Şanal; Chairwoman of EU and Human Rights Platform of Marmara Group Foundation Müjgan Suver, Board Member Lale Aytanç Nalbant, Leyla Tavşanoğlu and project assistants Ömer Yıldırım and Ebrar Eda Demir were present. Visit to the Berlin Embassy

Within the scope of the Turkish Youth and Women for Democracy Project, which we are implementing as the Marmara Group Foundation, representatives of partner institutions of the project visited the Berlin Embassy. Undersecretary of the Embassy of Berlin Mr. Umut Topçuoğlu made assessments on the educational and social lives of Turkish citizens living in Berlin. Ali İhsan İzbul, Undersecretary of the Berlin Embassy, provided information on the participation of young people and women in democratic decision-making processes in the international arena. Within the scope of the meeting, the MEB Education Counselor Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız gave information about the participation of Turkish youth and women living in Germany to the politics and education processes. Information and experience was shared on increasing the participation of women and youth in democratic processes.
