The Akkan Suver Museum Book Meets Readers and Visitors
Published by H2O Publications and written by Turan Şahin, the Akkan Suver Museum is not merely a museum catalog, but also a comprehensive documentary work shedding light on Turkey's cultural, diplomatic, and civil society memory of the last half-century. The book, focusing on the Akkan Suver Museum located in the Gebze Güzeller Organized Industrial Zone, established under the leadership of businessman Adem Ceylan and managed by Oğuzhan Ceylan at the Private Adem Ceylan Final Technical College, conveys a multifaceted life story spanning from journalism to politics, academia to international relations, through hundreds of objects and documents exhibited in the museum. The book traces the relationships Akkan Suver forged with heads of state, scientists, religious figures, and cultural personalities, accompanied by photographs, medals, decorations, diplomas, books, and personal memorabilia.
The work meticulously examines cultural heritage elements acquired by the museum from a vast geographical area stretching from Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan to Turkmenistan, the Balkans to China, and from America to Africa. Traditional caftans, state medals, diplomatic gifts, manuscripts, mementos of religious leaders, family archives, and private collections related to the Turkic world are each evaluated within their own historical and cultural context. Prepared based on the idea that "He who has no memories has no memory," the Akkan Suver Museum stands out as an important cultural publication demonstrating how the memories contained within a person's lifetime are also transformed into the collective memory of societies.
