Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker Spoke in the TRNC
Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Marmara Group Foundation, delivered a paper at the “Strategic Importance of the Eastern Mediterranean Forum” held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Özgöker analyzed the strategic importance of the TRNC and the Eastern Mediterranean from a historical perspective. Within this framework, he examined the regional balance of power by անդրressing major conflicts such as the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990), the Iran–Iraq War (1980–1988), the First Gulf War (1990–1991), the Second Gulf War (2003), and the recent Israel/US–Iran tensions.
During his speech, Prof. Dr. Özgöker also emphasized the highly successful military, political, and diplomatic strategies pursued by Türkiye and the TRNC. He further shared his views and recommendations on the rapid development and advancement of the TRNC and Famagusta.
