PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

The relations between the Turkish nation and the People's Republic of China have a long history. Starting in 1971, our diplomatic relations have been developing rapidly since their establishment. In reality, the Turkish people and the Chinese people are friends. The roots of the Central Asian states are ultimately connected to Turkish culture, Turkish heritage and Turkish history. Therefore, our friendship is historical.

Another important civilization measure of this historical friendship is the Great Wall of China.

The Great Wall of China is really a masterpiece of humanity. It is one of the greatest monuments built by mankind. The engineering that created it in the conditions of that day is a sign of a great civilisation.

Of course, these walls arose from the need for protection. Now, at the Great Wall of China, a new world order is emerging in which nations and people will not be suspicious and anxious about each other.

The People's Republic of China is about to create a geography where people can resolve their conflicts peacefully, help each other, co-operate and live together with the Belt and Road project.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we characterize this project of the People's Republic of China as a safer world, a fuller humanity, a more prosperous order and a cleaner, environmentally friendly life.

The event we call the Great Wall of China, together with the Belt and Road project, gives us this inspiration today.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we wish people to enter into co-operation with each other in whatever way they can. Whether people have a common history or not, whether they come from different cultures or not, we care about their co-operation. We praise it. With these thoughts, we consider the approach of the People's Republic of China as a peace and stability project.

Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, has always defended and continues to defend the Belt and Road Project with great sincerity in the national and international meetings he has attended.

As Marmara Group Foundation, we consider the historical Silk Road Project (Belt and Road Project) as an initiative of peace, stability and gain.

The importance of this peace project has gained more importance with the emergence of our need for globalization in the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic could only be solved with global co-operation. And so it was. If we consider that the vaccine to be obtained in China, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Türkiye is served not only to their own countries but also to all four corners of the world, the importance of global behavior emerges automatically. This shows us that we can only cope with global problems if we fight together and increase dialogue between policies.

In this respect, we hope that this catastrophic experience will provide us with very important clues and solutions in terms of precautions and adaptation on the road to peaceful coexistence and achieving prosperity together, and will ensure that the Belt and Road initiative, in which we are a part, is implemented as soon as possible.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we took part in international conferences organized to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the People's Republic of China in 2021. We brought the importance of this important friendship to the agenda. Again in 2021, we participated in events and wrote articles about the developments that China has reached from yesterday to today in Türkiye on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.

On the occasion of the 2022 Winter Olympics, in the congratulatory message we sent to the President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, we evaluated it as a sign that China is now a winter sports country as well as the beginning of a new era for winter sports.

In the meantime, the Marmara Group Foundation organizes events together with the Chinese Association for the Promotion of Human Rights, the Chinese International Friendly Contacts Association, the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament from the People's Republic of China.

Especially in 2024, we, as the Marmara Group Foundation, took part in the events organized by CPIFA, CPAFFC, CPAPD organizations in various time periods and tried to maintain our relations at an increasing pace.

The Belt and Road Initiative

Again, an important vision we have put forward as the Marmara Group Foundation is that we embrace the ‘Belt and Road Project’ in the Eurasian region. Because in the Eurasian region where different communities and cultures live together, the distance we have taken today is very important in the path we set out eleven years ago in order to ‘make common projects and contribute to the development of common feelings and thoughts’. Although the main goal of the economic corridor to be built seems to be economic integration, we believe that when the Belt and Road Project is realized, it will be of great and exceptional benefit to peace, stability and coexistence as well as order.

Yes, the Belt and Road initiative is indeed a philosophy.

It would be incomplete to evaluate it only as economic benefit, only finance, only money, only profit. Because the Belt and Road Initiative is an environment of dialogue and peace where cultures, languages and religions will get to know each other better. It is an organization that will facilitate understanding between societies.

Of course, the countries reached by land and sea and the people of those countries will be able to get to know and understand each other better. But most importantly, as a social responsibility initiative, especially during and after the pandemic, it has become clear that the Belt and Road Initiative is a project of stability and sustainable peace and cooperation.
Therefore, the world needs globalization more than ever and countries have to get closer and support each other more than ever. Life forces us to live together.

Let us not forget that a geography of 3 billion people is waiting for our exporters to host opportunities through the export route called the Economic Belt in the Belt and Road Project.

The Belt and Road Academy has accepted Dr. Akkan Suver from Türkiye as a member and hosted him as a speaker at three international Belt and Road meetings.
