“Haydar Aliyev 100 Years Old Medal” was presented to Dr. Akkan Suver, President of Marmara Group Foundation, for his contributions to Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations.

President of Marmara Group Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver was presented the “Haydar Aliyev 100 Years Old Medal” with the decree of President of Azerbaijani Ilham Aliyev at the ceremony held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan for his contributions to Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Reşad Memmedov said, “The ceremony is being held in connection with the medal of Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group, who is a close friend of our Great Leader Haydar Aliyev and has developed very close relations with him for many years. Dr. Akkan Suver has brought the Azerbaijani-Turkish nation closer to a single nation and further developed our economies through his activity and work for many years, as well as through numerous ceremonies and events organized by Azerbaijani-Turkish business circles in recent years.”

“THIS MEDAL ALSO BRINGS ME RESPONSIBILITY”

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, said: “The State of Azerbaijan has not spared us the grace of opening the Eurasian Economic Summits, which we have been organizing for 28 years, with the messages of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Haydar Aliyev at first and President Ilham Aliyev after his passing away. The Eurasian Economic Summits, which constitute the Marmara Group Foundation's efforts to transfer civilizations and cultures from people to people in peaceful harmony, have no other purpose and belief other than serving to ensure lasting prosperity and peace. With this belief, we can achieve peace, more precisely, a humane life, when the exchange of ideas between people is ensured under the guidance of dialogue. I do not see this medal I have received as only an honor. This medal also brings me responsibility. This responsibility is to work harder in the field of service to humanity and to carry out more productive projects. Therefore, the responsibility that brings us here today is the inheritance of culture and civilization from yesterday to today. Today, this inheritance has reached a new stage between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. I believe that this medal, which was awarded to me here today, will pave the way for new unions and new partnerships between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. By the way, I would like to note with great happiness that this medal was awarded to two people in Türkiye. The other medal was presented to Mr. Şamil Ayrım last week. I congratulate him and I am proud to say that Mr. Şamil Ayrım is a Member of Parliament. But he is also a member of the Marmara Group Foundation. The fact that both medals have been given to the Marmara Group Foundation gives us a separate pride as well as a responsibility. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the State of Azerbaijan and our host, His Excellency Rashad Mammadov.”
