The National Cathedral of Bucharest Opened
The construction of the world’s second-largest Orthodox and fourth-largest Christian cathedral, which began in 2010, was completed and inaugurated with an official ceremony led by Patriarch Bartholomew.
The opening ceremony, attended by about 5,000 people inside the cathedral and another 7,000 outside, brought together the President and Prime Minister of Romania, the President of Moldova, Princess Margareta and her husband Prince Radu.
Among the distinguished guests invited by the Ecumenical Patriarchate were Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation, and Sezgin Bilgiç, Secretary General
