We have lost Ilhami Emin, one of the legendary writers, poets and journalists not only of Macedonia but also of Balkans, who has been the official and private translator of many statesmen for years, especially the former Yugoslavia leader Jozip Broz Tito. Dr. Akkan Suverstated that: "Ilhami Emin was one of the last mighty oaks who has filled the long-lasting gap of Turkey and Turkish presence in Balkans.”

Ilhami Emin, has come to Turkey in 2012, as a guest of Marmara Group Foundation, with Journalist Nedim Abaz and Prof. Dr. Numan ARUC, and gave a conference to the Turkish press in the scope of Marmara Group Foundation's monthly meetings Istanbul Journalists Association. In 2019, despite his advanced age, he came and attended to the ceremony of presentations of the Macedonian State Medal of Honor of Dr. Akkan Suver, which took place in the Presidential Palace in Skopje.
Marmara Group Foundation will not forget Ilhami Emin, who is an important friend.

İlhami Emin, who worked as a sworn Turkish translator during Tito's life and later as a translator to the presidents of Yugoslavia, made his first interpretation in 1971 when Süleyman Demirel visited Yugoslavia as Prime Minister. In 1976, when Fahri Korutürk elected President and Süleyman Demirel elected prime minister for the second time, he had accompanied Tito as an interpreter when his the three-day official visit to Turkey.

Who is Ilhami Emin?

(Radoviš, 1931) He was born in the town of Radoviš in Macedonia. He worked as a teacher in “Tefeyyüz” Turkish primary school in Skopje. Then he started journalism in the newspaper “Nova Makedoniya”. “Sesler”, the first issue of which was published in 1965, served as the first responsible author of the monthly community art magazine. He was appointed as the Turkish Broadcasting Officer of the Skopje Radio. He remained in this position until 1973. He contributed to the advancement of Turkish radio broadcasting in the first years of his duty. In 1978 he was elected to the General Directorate of Skopje People’s Theater. As soon as his term of office expired, he was incorporated into the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia and became one of the deputies of the Minister of Culture. He remained in this position until he retired. He entered literature with poetry. He wrote in Macedonian first. The first two poetry books were also published in Macedonian.
His first Turkish poems “Jivotot pee i plaçe” - Singing and Crying Life in 1955, “Denonokiya” -Daily night-) in 1957, were

included in the book “Walk through the Light” in which the works of other Macedonian Turkish writers were also published. (Birlik Publishing House, Skopje 1951), “Beyond Stone” (Kultura Publishing House, Skopje 1965) and “Rose flower house” (Kultura Publishing House, Skopje 1974) were published in Turkish-Macedonian. Other poetry books published in Turkish and Macedonian: “Moon Catless Palace” (Detska Radost Publications, Skopje 1964), “Forty Friends” (Detska Radost Publishing, Skopje 1965), “Sunny poems” (Detska Radost Publishing, Skopje 1966), “Gülkılıç ” (Habora Publishing, Istanbul 1971),“ Rose flower”(Birlik Publishing, Skopje 1972),“ Poetry Alphabet ”(Birlik Publishing, Skopje 1974),“ Rose house ”(Birlik Publishing, Skopje 1980),“ Nomadic ”(Birlik Publishing, Skopje 1984), “Rozarium” (Gulistan, Macedonia, Skopje, 1985), “Güldin” (Birlik Publishing, Skopje 1993) and “Rose road” (2003)

Ilhami Emin’s works were also published in Turkey.
