STAR Refinery constructed by the SOCAR Turkey, an association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan SOCAR, was inaugurated. President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Azerbaijan H.E İlham Aliyev participated in the ceremony.

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey H.E. Binali Yıldırım, SOCAR President H.E. Rovnag Abdullayev, Energy and Natural Resources Minister H.E. Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Treasury and Finance H.E. Berat Albayrak and Minister of Industry and Technology H.E. Mustafa Varank also took part.

In addition to the Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan, several government officials of the two countries and numerous guests such as bureaucrats, executive officers from lots of companies operates in the realm of energy have attended the inauguration ceremony which was held in order to launch the Refinery.

The largest direct foreign investment made by the private sector, STAR Refinery which was laid the foundation in 2011 is among the largest oil operations in Europe, Middle East and North Africa in recent years. Star Refinery, which was launched with $6.3-billion of investment, has Turkey's first Strategic Investment Promotion Certificate with a capacity of 1.5 million USD.

The Refinery with 10 million tons of annual oil processing capacity is expected to create employment for 100 professionals.

Dr. Akkan Suver also attended the reception from the Marmara Group Foundation. Dr. Suver gave a speech to the Azerbaijani Reel Television and spoke about the STAR project. He said "This Refinery is largest project of Turkey to be localized. In this way, this will bring around 1.5 billion dollars of saving. It is aimed at become more independent in the foreign markets."

It is a fact that everyone is now close to see that Turkey and Azerbaijan are two leading actors for stability and security of the region. If this two countries don't take place in a project or give support, it will never achieve the goal.
