Mayor of Avcılar and Member of the Board of Trustees of Marmara Group Foundation, Att. Turan Hançerli, participated in the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council meeting. Hançerli shared his experiences and views on how local governments can be supported in a panel titled "Bottom-up Development and the Role of Local Governments," which took place at the UN headquarters in New York City, USA, from July 10th to July 19th, 2023.

During his speech, Hançerli explained the "Avcılar Model" to the participants and became the first mayor to be invited twice to the meeting by the President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
