Beylikdüzü Municipality commemorated Rauf Denktaş, the founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, on the anniversary of his death. Speaking at the ceremony held at the Rauf Denktaş Memorial in the Valley of Life in Beylikdüzü, Mayor of Beylikdüzü Mehmet Murat Çelik said, "Rauf Denktaş is the hero of the people of Cyprus. As your friends in Türkiye, in the motherland, perhaps experiencing the most different emotion, carrying the most different responsibility, we feel the cherished memory of Denktaş in our hearts." Founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Rauf Denktaş, one of the pioneering figures in the freedom struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people, was commemorated in Beylikdüzü on the 12th anniversary of his death.

The commemoration programme organised by Beylikdüzü Municipality at the Rauf Denktaş Memorial in the Valley of Life started with a wreath-laying ceremony. Mayor of Beylikdüzü Mehmet Murat Çalık, Consul General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Fatma Demirel, Cyprus Platform President Hasan Taş, President of the Turkish Combat Veterans Association Avcılar Branch Nurettin Ağaoğlu, President of the Cyprus Cultural Association Istanbul Branch Zehra Bilge Eray, President of the Marmara Group Foundation Dr. Akkan Suver, Marmara Group Foundation High Advisory Council Member Yüksel Çengel and Cyprus veterans attended the programme.

Rauf Denktaş was also commemorated at Istanbul University's Institute of Turkic Studies. In this ceremony, Ertuğrul Kumcuoğlu, the Doyen of the Marmara Group Foundation, and Engin Köklüçınar, a member of the High Advisory Council of the Marmara Group Foundation, shared their memories.
