Johannes Regenbrecht, Consul General of Federal Germany in Istanbul, on the occasion of the reunification of Germany (Deutsche Wiedervereinigung), 3 October 1990 gave a reception. Foreign mission chiefs, civil servants and academics in Istanbul were also present at the reception.  In addition to business people, religious mission leaders were represented at the Reception by Patriarch Batholomeos, Chief Rabbi İzak Haleva, Deputy Patriarchal of Syriac Orthodox Yusuf Çetin, Monsignor of Syriac Catholic Orhan Çanlı. Dr. Akkan Suver also attended to the reception on behalf of the Marmara Group Foundation.
