Bulgaria has a significant role in the Eurasian Economic Summits organized by the Marmara Group Foundation.

Our relations, which began with President Zhelyu Zhelev, continued and expanded with President Petar Stoyanov.

Zhelyu Zhelev, who participated from the beginning of the Eurasian Economic Summits, later made Dr. Akkan Suver an external member of the Balkan Policy Club, which he founded as chairman.

Turkish-Bulgarian friendship is not a new friendship. Turks and Bulgarians have lived side by side on the same lands under the same social and economic conditions for centuries, and essentially resemble each other in many respects.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, with our belief in civil thought, we see Bulgaria as a friendly and reliable country with which we can strengthen cooperation in Southeastern Europe, the Black Sea region, and Europe.

Because Turkey and Bulgaria are countries that have adopted pluralistic democracy and contemporary values. Essentially, the preference of our countries in this regard is in harmony with the increasingly defined lines of the world.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we regard the latest concrete example of Bulgaria-Turkey relations as the extension of the TurkStream natural gas pipeline from Turkey to Bulgaria by land, from Bulgaria to Greece, and then to Europe, as important for Balkan peace.

This cooperation, which is also quite important for the Balkan economy, will strengthen competition and transparency in the natural gas market from various sources.

The Marmara Group Foundation evaluates Bulgaria-Turkey economic and social relations as a project of peace and joint development.
