Engin Köklüçınar, Vice President of Marmara Group Foundation, made a press release on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of passage to eternity of the founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Rauf Denktaş and the 37th anniversary of passage to eternity of unforgettable name of the struggle for freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people and the of the first Vice President of the State of Cyprus Dr. Fazıl Küçük.

The explanation of Engin Köklüçınar, who had the honor of getting to know both leaders closely, is exactly as follows;

“We are on the anniversary of the death of two unforgettable heroes of the Turkish Cypriot.

As the Marmara Group Foundation, we bow respectfully in front of the high memories of Dr. Fazıl Küçük, who passed away on January 15, 1984, and Rauf Denktaş, whom we lost on January 13, 2012.

Turkish Cypriots are grateful to these two Legendary Persons. Because, with their unique and exceptional leadership and farsightedness, the guarantor clause imposed on the Cyprus Constitution, Turkish planes were able to arrive in Cyprus during the Greek attacks in 1963 and Mehmetçik was able to set foot on the island in 1974.

I would like to commemorate Rauf Denktaş, who made his life philosophy that a solution on a federal basis is a historical fact, in order to save their souls.

He Dreamed of Atatürk

The night before the 1974 Peace Operation, Denktaş saw Atatürk in his dream. Atatürk said: “The conjuncture has changed. Get ready.”

The same night, he is awakened by a phone call in the morning.

They say “Turkish soldiers are coming ashore”

Thus, the deceased Denktaş lives the most important and emotional moments of his life.

In the spiritual presence of these two important people who live together with the Turkish Cypriots, besides their manners of trial, I and our friends who form the Marmara Group Foundation are bowing with respect.

We believe that not only the Turkish Cypriots but also the Turks of the world will not forget these two exceptional Leaders.

As a person who has known them and been with them, I can say that these Two Heroes, as the true representatives of the Turkish Cypriots, will live as long as Turkishness stands.”
