TANAP, The Silk Road of Energy meets TAP

TANAP (Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline) and TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) met with an international ceremony held in Ipsala district of Edirne. Dr. Akkan Suver, President of Marmara Group Foundation and Şamil Ayrım, Istanbul Deputy, member of the Board of Trustees of Marmara Group Foundation attended to the meeting ceremony that joined together by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Dr. Akkan Suver made a statement to Azerbaijan News Agency AZERTAC at the ceremony.


Dr. Suver's statement is as follows:

Dr. Akkan Suver; " Azerbaijan becomes the most important actor in Europe's gas supply"

European connection facilities of TANAP opened in Edirne today. Dr. Akkan Suver, who attended the opening on behalf of Marmara Group Foundation, stated that "the merger of TANAP and TAP will be Azerbaijan's most important supplier in gas supply in the future of Europe".

Dr. Akkan Suver; " As a Turk citizen, I am proud of the future of the Turkish world. Because the two presidents came to this border area of Turkey today. Pipeline, coupled with TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) in Turkey-Greece border with the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project that President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made it's opening, reaches Italy while crossing Greece, Albania and Adriatic Sea. Thus, Azerbaijan gas will meet European consumers. This meeting will bring a new balance to Europe. In addition, energy supply security of Central Europe, especially in the Balkans, will be ensured in terms of energy security of Europe.

Meanwhile, I must add that with the opening of TANAP by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and İlham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has become the new gas supplier of Europe.

Dr. Akkan Suver, highlighting the continued flow of gas from Azerbaijan to Turkey for 16 years, stated that this project would create a balance between Russia and transit countries.

Dr. Suver also pointed out that pipeline that opened today has covered 1850 kilometers distance, is an important indicator of strategic partnership that goes back many years between Turkey and Azerbaijan
