Montenegro has participated in the Eurasian Economic Summits of Marmara Group Foundation for years at the levels of President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister. In addition, the Montenegro book written by Dr  Akkan Suver has been translated to the Montenegrin language and was published in Montenegro. The Marmara Group Foundation is grateful to President Filip Vujanovic for assigning him as the first Honorary Consul of his country and therefore to the State of Montenegro. Montenegro has an important place in the life of Marmara Group Foundation.


The relationship between Marmara Group Foundation and Montenegro is at the highest level. After the independence of the Montenegro State, the first Honorary Consul General he appointed abroad was Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation. Therefore, the Montenegro State trusted Dr. Akkan Suver and gave the title of “Honorary Consulate of Montenegro in Istanbul“. The Marmara Group Foundation is grateful to former Foreign Minister Milan Rocen and to former President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic and former Interior Minister of Montenegro Jusuf Kalemporovic for their contribution to his duty. Milo Dukanovic, who is currently the President, has played an important role in the relations of Montenegro and Marmara Group Foundation. Milo Dukanovic became Montenegrin President in 2018, winning the elections, Filip Vujanovic, who was not nominated by constitution after the three-term presidency.

When Filip Vujanovic was elected President, Serbia and Montenegro were a single state. During his presidency, Montenegro gained independence after a public vote in 2006. This merger took place peacefully and quietly. Its rapid international recognition is an indication of the successful foreign policy pursued by Filip Vujanovic and his colleagues. Filip Vujanovic served as successful president and made Montenegro the 29th member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as well as Albania and Croatia.

After gaining independence, Montenegro's NATO membership was one of two goals. The second goal is Montenegro's membership in the European Union. it is expected to be under President Milo Dukanovic. Montenegro, who has participated in the Eurasian Economic Summits of the Marmara Group Foundation at the level of President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for years, has also translated and published the Montenegro book written by Dr. Akkan Suver to the Montenegrin language. The Marmara Group Foundation is grateful to President Filip Vujanovic for assigning Dr. Akkan Suver as the first Honorary Consul General of his country and therefore to the State of Montenegro. The mission of Dr. Akkan Suver as Honorary Consulate General of Istanbul ended on 31.12.2019 with the opening of the official Consulate General in Istanbul. On November 26, 2020, the State of Montenegro appointed Dr. Akkan Suver as Honorary Consul to Balıkesir again. On March 2021, Montenegrin State granted Dr. Suver a Montenegrin Passport and Citizenship. At the same ceremony, Montenegro Medal of Merit was presented to Dr. Akkan Suver.

Montenegro has an important place in the life of Marmara Group Foundation.
