In Memory of Engin Ansay

Dr. Akkan Suver made a statement about Engin Ansay, a volunteer of the Marmara Group Foundation, who passed away.

I am saddened by the news that Engin Ansay, (R) Ambassador and volunteer of the Marmara Group Foundation, has passed away, which I learned recently due to the conditions of the pandemic.

Engin Ansay, who supported the Marmara Group Foundation and had a great share in our international Works, moved to the United States after his retirement. Upon the admission of the Marmara Group Foundation to the United Nations Economic and Social Committee as an Advisory Member, Engin Ansay, along with our Executive Council member Ogan Soysal was present in New York and received our certificate. 9th President of the Turkish Republic Süleyman Demirel used to call Engin Ansay as the Muhtar (local authority) of New York.

Engin Ansay and Ogan Soysal made our defense in the Civil Society Committee at the admission of the Marmara Group Foundation to the United Nations. On January 15, 2002, in a fax sent from New York that is still in my room, he wrote:

Dr. Akkan Suver,
President of Marmara Group Foundation

The United Nations NGO Committee convened today (15 January 2002) in New York and unanimously decided to grant the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation a Special Advisory Status before the United Nations Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC). We congratulate you and present this information to your knowledge.'

As the Marmara Group Foundation, respectfully commemorate the cherished memory of Engin Ansay.”
