ECONOMY DEMOCRACY RELATION - SOCIAL INEQUALITY FINAL DE

"Sustainable Development, Economy Democracy Relation - "Social Inequality", meeting of Marmara Group Foundation – EU and Human Rights Platform is finalized drawing attention with the call of "An advanced democracy and the economy, the rule of law, improving the quality of life, income inequality, gender and the elimination of social inequality, discrimination should be included within economic, social and environmental axis of sustainable development".

After the discussions and the shared opinions, we as the representatives of NGO’s, while the negotiations of the UN related with determining the new millennium targets of Sustainable Development occur, we suggest these results below to be considered:

 · To increase the social prosperity, to enhance the life quality, to stop the inequality and discrimination, good governance, powerful democracy and economy based on checks and balances system have to be at the agenda of societies. All this factors, it is inevitable to add the social, economic and environmental axis after 2015. In this base, the core of the cooperation has to be human focused.

 · We are waiting an explanation from the member countries, over the issues of; priorities at the national and international level, how to apply the targets, how to watch the accountability and data’s.

 · We are insisting upon a stronger accountability and investigation.

 · We also believe that the necessity of the independent mechanisms to be built at regional and international level in order to watch the developments.

April 8th, 2015 Wed. at Istanbul WOW Hotel, under the moderation of Chairwoman of Marmara Group Foundation EU and Human Rights Platform Mujgan Suver, the agenda of the round table meeting was Economy Democracy Relation - "Social Inequality".
