MARMARA FOUNDATION VISITS
UNESCO GENERAL DIRECTOR IN PARIS

        The Marmara Foundation Delegation, under the presidency of Dr. Akkan Suver, paid UNESCO General Director Ambassador Irina Bokova a visit in the Headquarters of UNESCO in Paris. Giving a briefing about the Intercultural Dialogue works of the Marmara Foundation, the Delegation, consisted of Dr. Akkan Suver, Ambassador (R) Engin Ansay, Dr. Fatih Saraçoğlu and Yusuf Duru, invited General Director Irina Bokova to the 14th Eurasian Economic Summit to be held at the Istanbul Convention Center in Istanbul, on May 4-6, 2011.

        In the meeting, the Marmara Foundation Delegation and UNESCO officials mutually exchanged their views on cooperation ways of enhancing joint projects.

        Pointing out her support to the contributions of the Marmara Foundation’s works to the economic social and cultural development of Eurasian region, Ambassador Bokova, stated that they wish that the two organizations would enhance cooperation to produce projects for common purpose.

        Stating that they worked for common goals with UNESCO, Dr. Akkan Suver said that he believes the cooperation with UNESCO would give important occasions to accelerate to achieve the internationally defined economic, social and cultural objectives.

        During the reception, presenting a hand-made Turkish rug to General Director Bokova as a remembrance, Dr. Akkan Suver obtained the promise of her participation to the 14th Eurasian Economic Summit. (September 14, 2010)
