JOINT COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE 13th EURASIAN ECONOMIC SUMMIT
Joint Communiqué of the 13th Eurasian Economic Summit which took place in Istanbul from May 5 to May 7 2010, has been published by the Marmara Foundation.
The participation of the Presidents of Macedonia and Albania, Prime Minister of Bosnia Herzegovina and the attendance of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia at the presidential level has been emphasized as a great value for the 13th Eurasian Economic Summit by the participants from 44 countries.
Two Deputy Speakers of Parliament, three Deputy Prime Ministers, nineteen Cabinet Ministers, eighteen Members of Parliament, sixteen International Organizations and 169 foreign dignitaries have participated in the meetings of 13th Eurasian Economic Summit.
Furthermore, the special message from H.E. Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan; and a delegation of seventeen members which consisted of a Deputy President, two Cabinet Ministers and a Deputy Speaker of Parliament and several Members of Parliament have been greatly appreciated.
The representation of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China by a delegation of Deputy Ministers and Members of the Parliament at the 13th Eurasian Economic Summit has greatly distinguished the deliberations of the Summit.
During the summit, the significance of the non-governmental organizations has been highlighted for those countries which lack the experience for such NGO’s and it has been underlined that NGO’s are sine qua non for democratic countries.
The fact, that the Eurasian Economic Summits present a significant forum where delegates can freely express their views and deliberate on all the subjects and the problems facing their countries and the world at large, was highlighted during the interventions.
It was specifically emphasized that the countries from the Eurasian region should make all the efforts towards becoming a part of the comity of nations.
It was adequately underlined that the Eurasian countries should address and aim their production of industrial and other goods, for global requirements with the use of brain power, contemporary technology and competitive quality. Only by implementing such production methods they can achieve sustainable development and catch up with the requirements of the current global economy.
It has been pointed out that progress has been made towards an order in which the global requisites are complied with and global technology can be used in accordance with global competition. The attention also has been drawn to the fact that the world today seeks for a “new normal” on both financial and economic levels and that there is no room for dissipation and ignorance.
During the deliberations at the 13th Eurasian Economic Summit, the necessity of political determination for a sustainable cooperation in order to implement the Nabucco Project has been highlighted.
It was asserted that the countries located within the Eurasian Region should fight against poverty. It has been pointed out that whilst sustaining peace and eradicating poverty, prevention of global warming is as important as providing employment to the people. The significance of Dialogue has also been emphasized. It has been agreed upon by the participants that the peace and sustainability in the region could only be achieved by economic welfare.
With respect to her reputable work on the environment, which has won her fame and brought her acclimation all around the world, Prof. Dr. Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis, from Greece, has been nominated by the Marmara Foundation for The Nobel Prize. Moreover, it has been unanimously decided that Prof. Dr. Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis should be recommended and supported by other participating countries.
It has been proposed by the participating countries and agreed upon by all that the frequency of the contacts with The Nobel Foundation should be increased.
For Iraq, where two different democratic elections have taken place, continuing progress towards a solid democracy and attainment of peace, the Summit wished all the success.
Delegates representing the Constitutional Administration of Kyrgyzstan have stated that the efforts were being deployed towards the establishment of a democratic system, which consisted of democratic instutions, human rights and rule of law.
It has been emphasized that in addition to the Balkan politics of Turkey, Turkey should establish similar political strategies on the Caucasian and the Central Asian axis; and, whilst doing that, the regional circumstances and the forthcoming imminent developments should be taken into consideration.
In order to maintain sustainability in the Caucasus; despite good intentions of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia towards Armenia; it has been accentuated that Armenia has unfortunately not shown any signs of sincere attitude for generating trust.
It also has been pointed out that the lands under the Armenian occupation should be returned to Azerbaijan in accordance with the International Rules and Regulations.
The statement of the new President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus that He would continue with the negotiations has been noted as a significant attempt in the process of establishing peace on the Island.
The success of Tajikistan and Mongolia in the process of economic development has been appreciated as an indication to their regional development.
Not only for the country’s sustainability but also for the continuation of peace in the region, the cooperative efforts of the Russian Federation has been appreciated.
The authorities from the People’s Republic China, who have englightened the participants about the developing economic potentials, have invited the Eurasian countries to invest in China.
The participants from Israel have expressed their desire for a workshop to be held in the Knesset by the Marmara Foundation, objective of underlining the significance of Eurasian Cooperation with Israel.
The Summit has decided that an international delegation is to be established to assist the preparations of the 14th Eurasian Economic Summit which will be held in 2011, and that the said delegation is to support the work and efforts of The Marmara Foundation in the international arena.
